Are you ready to adopt a Border Collie?
When you adopt any companion animal, especially a rescue, it is a commitment that will affect your lifestyle for many years to come. Do you have the time, energy and resources necessary to devote to a new member of the family? With good care, most Border Collies will live 10 to 17 years. It is critical that you consider what is likely to be happening in your own life — before you adopt a pet.
What happens next?
If you can provide a healthy, safe and loving home and would like to adopt a Clancy’s Dream rescued Border Collie the next step is to read our Adoption Process Quick Facts and then complete the Adoption Application. Please note that the application is not an agreement to adopt a pet. Improper placement can end tragically — usually for the dog. This comprehensive application helps us to place the right dog with the right family.
An adoption interview will be scheduled either by phone or in person upon review of the application. The level of experience required, need for a fence, adequate exercise space, hours the animal may be left alone, young children and other pets in the home, etc will be discussed in the adoption interview and will be determined according to the need of each dog.
Adoption approval is at the sole discretion of Clancy’s Dream Adoption Committee. The references provided in the Adoption Application will be verified prior to approval. You will want to contact your vet’s office, letting them know that a Veterinary Medical Records Release form will be forthcoming. Please note: If your pets are not current on all necessary vaccines; or do not receive annual heartworm tests and preventative on a year-round basis; or if you have unsterilized pets and are unwilling to spay or neuter, that adoption will be handled on a case by case basis. Established performance and conformation dogs will be exempt from this provision, after establishing that their dogs are followed by a veterinary practice.
After verification and approval, you will finalize the adoption by completing an Adoption Contract. We ask that you make a tax deductible contribution to Clancy’s Dream which serves our Foundation’s ability to cover a rescue dog’s daily expenses of food and medicine, veterinary bills, transportation costs, shelter costs and so much more! All available medical records will be provided along with a variety of other information at time of adoption.

It is our mission to find healthy, loving and safe homes for Border Collies. Clancy’s Dream is committed to the animals it rescues for their entire lifetime. Once an animal is adopted, Clancy’s Dream reserves the right to:
- Check on the pet to ensure its well-being.
- Remove the pet from the home if any conditions of the Adoption Contract have been violated or, if in the opinion of Clancy’s Dream, the environment is unsafe.
- If at any time you cannot keep your pet, you must return it to Clancy’s Dream and not to any other individual or shelter.
